Motorola tough Android Defy+ mobile phone arriving end of September

On-line mobile phone retailer Clove has confirmed the new version of Motorola’s Defy tough mobile phone, the Defy+, will be arriving on September 30th.

The Motorola Mobility Defy plus was announced in early August this year, as the successor to last year’s ‘Defy’ arduous handset that can survive being immersed in water and dust, with a scratch resistant screen.

Clove has made public this news in a blog post on their website, where the same blog also unveiled days after the initial announcement by Motorola that Clove will be carrying the phone – and at a price of £246, which has remained the same.

The new Motorola Defy+ arrives with the same scratch resilient 3.7-inch corning gorilla glass display as the first model, with a 5 megapixel camera and an IP rating of 67 – meaning it’s both water tight to 1metre and dust proof too.

This mobile now runs from a 1GHz processor, where the original mobile shipped with an 800MHz CPU and the older Android ‘Éclair’ 2.1 OS, whilst the Defy+ has Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 and an updated MotorBlur overlay to the platform.

One Mobile Ring ran a feature of late comparing all of the latest spate of tough mobile phones, where we covered the Motorola Plus in great detail – which can be read here.
