At both Phones 4u and Tesco

Well-known maker of low-cost devices Huawei has announced their new Blaze handset will be sold for just £99 next month, with the poplar high-street phone retailer Phones 4u and Supermarket giant Tesco.

Huawei’s Blaze will be the company’s first Android smartphone to appear solely under the Huawei brandname in the UK, where they are also known for making handsets for mobile phone networks – such as the Stockholm for Orange and the Smart for Vodafone.

The Blaze arrives with a 3.2-inch HVGA 480×320 TFT-LCD capacitive touchscreen, whilst powered by a 600MHz processor, with a 3.2 megapixel camera and a VGA variant, 512MB of memory, support for 32GB microSD cards, Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 and the Huawei Music Player, Facebook, Twitter apps all pre-installed.

Huawei’s Blaze ships under the ‘Ideos X3’ name in other countries, with a fast booting function and the company’s own over-the-air (HOTA) upgrade feature whilst shipping in a thin case, measuring just 11.2mm in thickness.

The OEM brand maker has stated this is the first in an expanding series of highly specified and affordable handsets, which will be launching in the next coming months – following on from the likes of ZTE, who are teaming up with the reseller Brightpoint for a similar venture.
