LG deploying Android Gingerbread update to Optimus 3D handsets

South Korean second largest consumer electronics company Lucky Goldstar has released details of an upgrade coming to the software running on their LG Optimus 3D mobile phones, which brings with it new features such as enhanced network speed, a better 3D experience and improved multimedia functions.

The LG Android ‘Gingerbread’ upgrade for the Optimus 3D will include enhanced power management, advanced copy/paste and an improvement to the user interface.

There is also better HSPA+ speeds, where Internet browsing and real-time streaming is said to be smoother and more seamless – with up to 21Mbps HSDPA download speeds.

This new deployment offers up an enriched 3D experience, with 3D video editor and full-screen UI preview too. The 3D video editor allows users to easily create and edit 2D, in addition to 3D movies on their Optimus 3D.

There is also improved multimedia with 2D video stabilisation and faster gallery activation. Optimus 3D owners will now be able to record high quality video in 2D mode with the video stabilisation feature, which was previously only available in 3D mode.

LG will be making the update available starting in Europe from November 21, followed by other markets by the end of the year.
