Turn any Android phone into a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play handset

Without the need to buy the SE device

Gadget news and reviews site Pocket Lint has gained access to a mobile phone accessary from Gametel, which allows any Google mobile OS phone to be transformed in to a Xperia Play-esque device with a D-pad.

Pocket Lint is now carrying images and hands on video of the Swedish company’s Bluetooth gaming D-pad, which circumvents the Android screen and offers up a gaming console experience – without the need to by a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play mobile.

The site has noted the accessory doesn’t need to be physically connected to work, but it does come with a clamp that can grip around an Android phone with a screen up to 4.2 inches.

The controller will work with any Android phone from version 2.1 and above including Honeycomb tablets.

Pocket lint also notes the Bluetooth D-Pad controller will cost around £50 and expected to be available in the UK before Christmas, whilst working with over 50 games in the Android Market at the moment. This is along with being able to use Cordy, Asphalt 5 HD, Reckless Getaway, Guns’n’Glory, MotoX Mayhem, Happy Vikings and Zenonia in the future.
